This review is for the mk2 version. I received it yesterday 9-30-21, so these are my initial thoughts. Of course in time I may have differing opinions.
I ordered the pixel blade with mine...and really...what can I say? This saber is positively stunning. Its far more impressive in person than I had expected. Everything is well machined, feels very sturdy, and what you expect a "real" light saber to feel like. Its hefty, but balanced, and the wrap feels like its going to stay in place. The pixel blade is super bright and the effects are amazing. The details are crisp and clean, and the black accents really pop. The design changes over from original sinister prophecy are excellent, and I particularly like the heat bluing on the emitter...its a very nice touch. Over all this is a sleek design that looks well thought out, elegant and practical. It looks like what you might imagine a real light saber in the SW universe would look like.
If I had to pick something that could be improved...maybe the sound. Its certainly loud enough...but to my ears...it does seem a bit thin. Im nit picking though...and I dont know if its even possible to get beefier sound out of such a small speaker. I have not used the editor software yet, so I cant speak to that.
Delivery took 19 weeks. A whole month longer than the estimate when I ordered it. Im not complaining mind you...just stating the facts. Considering current events (if you are from the far future...check the date), I expected a delay and was not surprised or annoyed by it. I did send an email to customer service requesting an update at 18 weeks...and received a courteous reply answering my questions within just a few days. My very limited experience with customer service was positive and I have no complaints there.
All in all this is a lifelong fantasy fulfilled and I am 100% satisfied with the product, the support I received, my purchase, and the entire experience as a whole. I would absolutely purchase from SaberForge again.
I mentioned a couple of times how it fits my expectations of what a "real" saber might be. For me that is the most important aspect and exactly what i wanted. I wanted something as close to authentic as possible...and this saber really delivers. Its fabulous!
