I can’t say enough about how well this hilt is made. It feels great in hand, and the crystal chamber is amazing. This is my first experience with the Golden Harvest board, and I’m quite impressed with what it can do.
However, the blade that Saberforge provides is the worst one in my collection. I was excited about the idea of the thread-in blade, but in practice it’s not good. No matter how tightly you screw in the blade, and even combined with a blade retention screw: the blade wobbles, and there’s even an audible creaking sound. Not sure if it’s coming from the blade, or the hilt where the blade is connecting. Doesn’t seem to be a way to fix this.
Furthermore, this blade also happens to be the least bright of my collection. Even my most simple, basic neopixel blade that came pre-packaged with the cheapest Xenopixel-installed LGT saber I could find blows this blade out of the water in terms of brightness. The difference is so drastic that when the Saberforge blade is next to any of my other neopixel blades, it looks like it isn’t even lit up at all by comparison.
To summarize: I’m very disappointed in the blade brightness and the real-world usability of the thread-in blade connector. But very happy with the quality of the hilt and impressed with the Golden Harvest board. I would recommend Saberforge, but only for hilts that live on the shelf.
I would not recommend this product for much recreational use, and certainly not for dueling.
