These timing shims are very useful for aligning parts just right. However in a few cases the shims don't line up great with the parts we are using them with. In some cases, the diameter of the shim is greater than the part, meaning the shim extends beyond the wall of the saber.
One time after **** the parts together I wondered where all these red dots on my hilt were coming from. It was at that point I noticed I was bleeding from a very thin but long cut in my palm. I jury rigged a solution by folding over the shim on itself by about 1-2mm, just enought to shorten the diameter so it stays within the saber but can still fit around the male end of the ASP part. This does have the side effect of altering the shim's timing and where parts now align.
I'd like to see a rubber-gasket style shim offered, one that fits the diameter of the male parts without being wider than the outer diameter of the parts. And if it did extend beyond the outer wall of the hilt, it wouldn't slice us up as we **** the parts together.
